Disneyland
By Aimee on
Let me introduce you to my love of Disney! Ever since I was a small child I have had a love of Disney. My mum still has all of our VHS movies at her house and I’m not ashamed to say I spent my last Christmas Eve on my Mum’s couch watching Peter Pan and the Jungle Book.
Now it is my ultimate life goal to travel to every single Disneyland and so far I have been able to cross two from my list. I was 15 when I was given the amazing opportunity to go spend three days at the original Disneyland in Anaheim California, and only last year went and visited the Euro-Disney just outside of Paris, France. We only had one day there and I was very tired by the end of it.
I don’t think it’s a lie when people say that it’s the happiest place on earth, having tested two of them I can say they’re pretty darn happy.
See! Look at me! I’m so happy! I even have the most ridiculous looking goofy hat on and I couldn’t be happier. We were so surprised when all the characters decided to get a photo with us. The people behind us weren’t so fortunate and this has got to be the best photo of that trip.
I do think that the Paris one was a smidgeon smaller and because of that it felt busier but then I did have a seven year gap between the two. A few of the rides / attractions were different but still similar and it had enough of the same attractions to make it feel like the original Disneyland, like the Peter Pan’s flight and the Pirates of the Caribbean rides. And both Disneylands sell “Ben and Jerry’s” ice-cream which I think is one of the most important features.
When I went to America it was almost Christmas and so the Disneyland was very Christmassy. The parade and decorations were very festive and even the “It’s a small world ride” didn’t have the traditional song and they were all dressed in traditional Christmas clothes so I only got the authentic experience of that ride whilst in Paris. I did come home from the American trip with a renewed vigour for Christmas however as the happiest place on earth made the happiest season very exciting. We even bought a Tinkerbell Christmas tree decoration that still gets put up every year with fond memories.
Safe to say that I have loved both parks so far and I did both at such different times of my life. Now I’m super excited to announce that in July of this year I will be able to tick off the third Disneyland for me, which will be in Japan. I’m buying a two day pass that will take me to both the Disneyland Park and Disney Sea, which I am very excited about. I didn’t get to do the extra park in Paris but absolutely loved California Dreaming in America. My partner and I will be going together and he’s not as big of a Disney fan as I am so he is going to have to put up with a very excited Aimee who will get there when the park opens and only leaves when it closes… it’s going to be a big two days.
