Inspired #2

Feeling the Love

Alright everyone, this might get a bit soppy but bare with me. One year ago I met a man through the wonderful world of Tinder. For people who don’t know what Tinder is it is a dating app that normally just leads to awkward dates and booty calls. However in my case (and a few other friends that I know) Tinder actually worked out to be this wonderful creation that brought two people together. So today I will talk to you about this wonderful man and how he inspires me everyday. But first a little bit more of our story

How it all began

Sam and Aimee

OK so I already told you about Tinder, and normally after talking for a bit you go on a date. Date number one for me was always just to see if you wanted to do date number two, and with Sam that was a yes. Date number 2 we ended up going to a dessert bar (as he remembered about my sweet tooth) and we stayed until they closed and he kissed me goodnight. With a skip in his step he left for his bus stop and I went home. We have been pretty inseparable ever since. In the past year we have celebrated a Christmas, met my crazy yet fun loving family, travelled to Japan, moved in together, and just spent some amazing days hanging out and eating good food and watching so much Brooklyn 99. So enough about us, let me talk to you about why he inspires me.

The Inspiration

Sam and Cat

This beautiful man inspires me by his love of learning, his desire to test his skills and his ability to remain calm through almost everything (with the exception of him fixing his bike). He also has this way of helping me stay calm and stress free as well. Just today I was upset and angry over something and a few small words and a cup of tea really helped and I wouldn’t have done it so quickly without him. He is also up for a good (or bad) joke, whether he brings up a random one during conversation or sends me one in a text throughout the day. He is always reading a book, and isn’t afraid to try new things. Just recently I taught him how to knit and use the sewing machine. His cooking skills always amaze me, whenever I post food on this blog it is always the things that I make but honestly his cooking is much better than mine. We are always thinking of places we can travel. We already did one oversees trip together and we are looking forward to the next one, still deciding on a location as there is so much of this beautiful world to see. Collectively we have already been lucky enough to see so much of it but that has only increased our passion around travel. Another thing that inspires me about him. When I was getting to know him and was telling my mum about him (yes I still have lovely little girly chats with my mother) I couldn’t stop smiling, or saying how amazing his mind worked or well travelled he was, or how much he honestly listened to me. I talk a lot… and to have someone truly listen really did surprise me. I also love that he sings and whistles around the house. My grandpa is a big whistler and I have always sung and he makes me want to sing and be silly with him. Everything about us right now is just happy, and if it does get difficult we know to talk. Communication is a big thing for us and believe it is important to just say how we feel about something. Honesty really is the best policy.

So what next?

Sam and Oddish

To be honest, besides the talk of travel and creating a home I have no real idea; but whatever happens I couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds and to have this man by my side is truly inspiring. So I sit here watching you on our new couch, reading with ‘our’ cat napping between us I feel nothing but love and gratitude for you. I know you’re reading this (because with everything else you do for me you have created and help run my blog) and with that happy one year anniversary xx 💖
