Knitting Pattern - Teddy Bear

By Aimee on

Beginning

I had never knitted something so intricate in my entire life and was super proud of myself for knitting this beautiful bear. In saying that, this knitting pattern is super easy to understand and if I did get stuck on something I was able you YouTube it or Google it. How amazing the internet is for finding things out. I have always been one for self-learning and teaching myself things. When I was young I taught myself the basics of the piano. My sister was the one who got the lessons and I took her books and taught myself. I wanted to play so that is how I learnt. Same goes with knitting and sewing for me now. I also recently knitted a couple of beanies which I had never done before. They aren’t perfect but they are warm and a bit cute.

Head

Now the pattern I used was from a blog called ‘By Small Means’. I only made the bear but there is a bunny that is in this pattern too (change of ears) as well as some clothes for the animals. Which is unbelievably cute. Follow that link to get the pattern.

Ears

I decided to make this little guy for a friend who has recently had a baby. I thought It would be a cute gift and I can’t wait to give him to the little fella and watch him cuddle it and hopefully fall in love with it like I have. I named the bear Ben and I think it suits him quite well. Now that I have made this little guy I know that my mum would love me to make some for my niece and nephew. I get the feeling that now that I have proven that I can do this I will probably be that friend that will make knitted gifts for all the friends who have children. Which is alright by me, I think it is one of those gifts that shows love and care and patience and I have always loved making gifts for people. A few years a go I made this awesome dinosaur tail for my nephew and he still wears it around now.

Pattern Changes

The only thing that I would change in this pattern would be Head side B row 11. It says to knit to end after casting off 8 stitches but I would purl. Otherwise it leaves a funny mark in your pattern that obviously isn’t meant to be there. I love this pattern and thought that it was great for a newbie like me who hasn’t done much pattern knitting before. Let me know what you think of it!
