Reverse Bucket List

By Aimee on

So my 10 year high school reunion is coming up and that makes you look back at all of your achievements and judge your own life. I’m super happy with where I am now and a lot of what I have done over the last 10 years so I thought I would post my top 10 achievements. These are listed in no particular order as I think they are all wonderful and fun achievements.

1. Gotten 7 Tattoos

tattoos

It all started after my cat passed away and I got a shoulder tattoo for her (as pictured). From there I have almost gotten one a year since I was 18. I have a mermaid, gemini twins, yin yang with a dolphin (cliche much), two stars, cherry tomatoes (Sam and I got somewhat matching tattoos after the wedding), and a bird. I will be getting camels and snoopy and woodstock in the future.

2. Went on a cruise around the pacific Islands

cruise

When one of your best friends says hey you wanna go on a cruise, you don’t say no. I had a ball. Only downside was I got a bit sea sick the first night and it was over valentines day and my partner at the time wasn’t with me. Otherwise it was a great experience.

3. Made life long friends

friends

When I worked at Harvey Norman I made some incredible friends. Now since being with Sam I have become close friends with his mates and their girlfriends/wives. I have been a bridesmaid for a multitude of my friends and I’m so grateful and blessed to have such amazing people in my life.

4. Travelled Europe for two months

europe

4, nearly 5, years ago now I went to Europe with my then partner. We spent a month in the UK, then in the second month we went to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Lucerne, Innsbruck (Austria), Venice, and Rome. It was a trip of a lifetime and I now want to share some of that with Sam and Poppy. Especially Scotland as Sam’s Mum and Grandparents are from there.

5. Completed a bachelor of Media arts

media arts

This was a 3 year degree that showed me how much I loved to learn and I loved to be creative. I got to do film and animation and even though I don’t use much of it I still get to do some of this with my students.

6. Completed a Masters of Primary Teaching

I completed this two years ago now and I still marvel and how much work and effort I put in to complete this degree in 18 months whilst still working 4 days a week. I call that commitment… or crazy. The graduation ceremony was in Queensland when I was in Japan so I didn’t get any graduation photos for this one.

7. Started Work at Autism SA

I was given the idea and opportunity through a close friend to apply for a facilitator job. I was skilled and lucky enough to get it. I’ve been working here just over 12 months now and love it. Some days are harder than others but I believe I am a real asset to my students and the company.

8. Travelled to Japan

japan

Favourite holiday of all time! Sam and I went because a) we wanted to and b) we needed to see if we could travel together. There’s something about travel that brings out stress, exhaustion, problems, and close quarters. Since we thrived on our trip we knew we could do anything. I still miss Japan every day and it’s been two years.

9. Married Sam

Wedding

One of the loveliest days of my life. Everything we could control, and some things we couldn’t (like the weather) was perfect. The food was amazing, the vows were beautiful, the venues and staff were lovely and I rocked my dress! Best of all was the photos from our photographer. She did such an incredible job I’m suggesting her to everyone.

10. Had Poppy

Last but certainly not least is Poppy. Giving birth to her was incredible. Incredibly hard but incredibly rewarding and wonderful. Not just birthing her but watching her grow this last year has truly been amazing. The love and joy she shows every single day, even when she isn’t well, melts my heart. This is the love you don’t understand until you are a parent. And then you understand how much your parents love you.

So this is it. My top 10 achievements. I’ve done many other little things in the past 10 years. Some things I’m not so proud of but we all have to learn somewhere. And from where I was 10 years ago to where I am now I can honestly say I am proud of who I am and where I am and what I am continuing to achieve. Bring on the next 10 years I say!
