Sam's Makeup Masterpiece

Sam and my Makeup

‘tis the season to be silly, and silly we are. It was over Christmas lunch I decided that it would be funny and entertaining to spend one day of my holidays having my makeup done by Sam. Today was the day! After hitting the gym and showering I prepared all my makeup and sat down, fresh faced. I went through what the things were and then let him have at it. Below are the results.

Now you always have to start with a before shot. As you can see there isn’t a lick of makeup on me. I was excited to see what he would do and the ‘techniques’ he would use. On most days I don’t wear any makeup, maybe some mascara. That’s about it. From here on in I gave him my phone to take pictures and I was none the wiser the whole way.

Mishaps

Excess Bronzer on Face

I could see what was about to happen. The excess bronzer was packed onto the brush and then without tapping he applied it to my face. I snickered and couldn’t help but wait for him to notice that it was way too much to put on. I was brown. He wiped it off with a makeup remover and applied more foundation then continued on. He had to use another wipe when he did my blush as well, and the lipstick. He did start to tap the brushes however to get off excess powders.

The Eyes

Eye Closeup

In an earlier post I have shown you the e.l.f. eye makeup kit that I purchased. On the inside of this kit it has instructions. Sam thought it would be best to follow them. He started off by trying to use the eyeliner. He was afraid he’d poke me in the eye but did a pretty good job. He then picked up an angled brush and got to work. His own little flourish at the end was to add some green eyeshadow for a ‘pop’ of colour and a flourish of mascara.

The Lips

This was by far the hardest part. I couldn’t help but laugh as he applied my lipstick. This obviously made his job more difficult. I laughed again when he snaggled my tooth and then some more when I could feel it go outside the lines. After a few deep breaths and failed attempts he had applied a lovely shade of light pink.

The End Result

Considering he had never done anything like this before I think he did a bang up job. I was very bronzed, and the green eyeshadow probably wasn’t the best colour choice. But all in all I think he did well. Sam mentioned that it made sense that sometimes I take a while to do my makeup. I think that perhaps every partner should give this a go to fully understand what us women do when we get ourselves ready to go out.
