Getting Rid of Plastics in the Home

I was scrolling through my instagram feed a while ago and came across an image from Anne Hathaway. She mentioned an every day item, toothbrushes, and how every single toothbrush you have ever used is still and forever will be in landfill. I’m not sure why that got to me so much but it did. Then some time later a friend posted about the environmentally friendly bamboo toothbrushes you can get, next thing I know I’m down at my local health foods store and purchased a couple. Read more

How to plan a wedding in 6 months

So Sam and I recently got engaged! We’re super excited and happy about this obviously and I wanted to share my planning with you all. We are planning a rather short engagement and have given ourselves six months to get organised. This is ample enough time for us as we have already been saving for a while and don’t want to wait. Choosing to have a winter wedding makes it easier as well because it isn’t wedding season and vendors and suppliers are more readily available. Read more

Top 10 Favourite Christmas Movies

10: Jingle all the Way This one recently popped up on Netflix and I remember this being taped as a kid and watching it. It is the reason I remember all the reindeer’s names because Arnold Schwarzenegger is attempting to win a doll for his son and runs toward a radio station reciting the reindeer - dasher, dancer, prancer, vixen, comet, cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph. It also shows the crazy lengths parents legit go to to get their kids gifts on Christmas. Read more

Birth Story: Sam's Version

At three I woke up because Aimee was awake. "Are you alright?" "I’m fantastic! I’ve just had some contractions." "How many?" "Five." I told her I loved her. I packed our bags and organised snacks and drinks. "Go back to sleep" she told me. "I don’t think I’ll be able to" The contractions kept coming. They were not bad so I decided to sleep. Birth Story: Aimee's Version

On father’s day I gave birth to our beautiful baby daughter. It was the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. I can tell you the love is real and worth every painful moment during labour. I wanted to share my birth story here to hopefully inspire others. Read more

Bullet Journal

How many of you have heard of a bullet journal? It was a new concept to me too until recently and then it blew up in my Pinterest feed like crazy. Sam was the one who actually introduced me to it and he’s been using his for months. I didn’t think much of it but since it kept popping up I thought I would check what the fuss is all about. Our BaBy-Q Baby Shower

Ah the long anticipated baby shower. I have been excited about this day for months and finally we had it over the weekend. The night before I woke up at 2 and didn’t fall back to sleep until 5 then had maybe another hour of sleep. So I started the day off exhausted but excited. It felt like Christmas. The weather forecast said rain with a possible thunderstorm. It put a new perspective to the meaning of ‘baby shower’. Read more

Every family is different, which means this checklist might not suit all of you, but it is a place to start. Read more

Dungeons and Dragons

Growing up, whenever I heard of Dungeons and Dragons I just thought of it as this really nerdy thing people played in basements. That’s the way it was always depicted. I’ve always loved medieval fantasy and growing up it was pretty much all I would read. When A friend first introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons I was still a little sceptical but willing to give it a shot. Then I fell in love. Read more
